Haidyn is a 20-year-old of moderately slender frame and slight stature, due to her Asian and Irish heritage. She is Irish-American and Japanese. She mostly resembles her late mother, Hiren, except for her hair color, which is a deep red she inherited from her estranged father, Rowan. Her eyes are a shade of red-violet with a ring of red outside her irises. Her eye color seems to brighten or darken, depending on certain lighting or her mood, as she likes to muse. Her hair is curly like her mother's and paternal grandmother's, Hīto, and she likes to braid part of it at the side atop her head. Haidyn's attire also varies depending on her mood so she never has a particular outfit she always wears. She's rather feminine, sometimes overdressing and sometimes seeking manicures or painting her nails different colors once a week. She always wears a small, silver heart-shaped locket in which she has two photos; one is of her late mother and the other of her grandmother. On her inner left forearm is she tattooed with an elaborate hummingbird in flight springing from peonies in white ink to commemorate her late mother and her favorite flowers; she chose white ink because it is the most subtle color against skin and she wouldn't have too much trouble covering when she evidently goes out into her field of work as a future pediatric specialist.

Haidyn is a good-natured woman before all those she meets, though in certain situations, she acts like a spazz and may say the wrong things because she becomes easily flustered and will not keep her mouth shut, causing her supernatural abilities to surface when she laughs. She is rather profane alone, cursing quite a lot more than the average girl, especially when she finds herself in distress. When she is around others whom she may not know very well, she is rather formal and quiet. Once she's comfortable around someone, she is her usually and seemingly rambunctious and cheerful self. It's not too easy to upset her, but when she is not in the best of moods, she transitions to a passive-aggressive demeanor and may very well turn snippy with anyone she feels may be taunting her.

Although Haidyn may seem standoffish, she craves the company of others, feeling best surrounded by a group of friends, even if she's not the best at making them. But when she finds those people in her life, she is fiercely loyal and loving, though she will never come off as clingy.
She grew up as an only child, and due to her strict upbringing on her father's end, Haidyn sometimes displays detachment in relationships, seeming uninterested or sometimes selfish. This is not the case with her, however; Haidyn has utmost respect in regards to the space of others so she purposely distances herself, in turn causing misunderstandings with those she cares deeply for and making it seem as if she is upset with them. She is quite stubborn, refusing to let up with her own emotions or internal conflicts she may have. She does not like talking out her own feelings for she feels like a bother and as though she will become a nuisance to others, so often will Haidyn keep things to herself in effort to quell her negativity, otherwise if worst comes to shove, her fret festers and she will act out on emotion. Haidyn also cries often, ofttimes without realizing it, breaking out into song in a different language; it seems to be the same language each time, though she never understands what it is she sings. She used to take antidepressants in an effort to stop, but to no avail, for it occurs regardless all the same. She typically wears her heart on her sleeve in most cases, and is a very expressive person.

Haidyn also happens to be anemic, so she often feels fatigued, cold, and bruises very easily. Dizziness was a frequent happenstance as well. She is never without her iron pills, though she is a tad forgetful and doesn't always adhere to her own health whether she means to or not.

Some of Haidyn's interests include fashion, visual & performing arts, flowers, music, coffee, and trying new food.

Raised in an environment where food was always made, Haidyn grew up learning how to cook under the brief tutelage of her mother before she proceeded to be taught by her paternal grandmother. Although quite skilled in the culinary arts, Haidyn did not enjoy preparing food for herself, as she would rather pick up her santoku knives for others. She was always told food was meant to be shared and it tasted best when surrounded by company. So often will Haidyn choose to eat out, though she will cook at home occasionally (and reluctantly).

Haidyn also enjoys the arts, though she could never sit through a musical unless it has mostly-dramatic themes. She loves music enough, but will never understand how anyone can enjoy musical soundtracks as she finds them utterly boring. If there was an opportunity to visit a museum, she will jump at the chance to see historical artifacts or the evolution of human creativity.

Visiting fields of flowers is also among one of her favorite pastimes and something she tries to do wherever she travels. Peonies are her favorite as they were reminiscent of her late mother and the bistro which was often adorned with floral arrangements that included peonies, which are the two main reasons that motivated Haidyn to get her tattoo piece along with the hummingbird.

As for music, Haidyn's taste varies on a wide spectrum. She enjoys most categories of rock, her favorites including classic, grunge, and punk/pop-punk. She loves lofi styles and different forms of EDM, Deep House, Tropical, and Chill. Electronica, synthwave, retro electro, trance along with the occasional dark cabaret, electro swing, blues, jazz, and noir-pop tickled her fancy. 80s music is also another genre she adores. Her upbringing was filled with classical music as well which actually did lead her to learn piano, courtesy of her grandmother, Hīto. Haidyn was a rather good pianist, though she never pursued anything with her talent because it was something she only enjoyed on her own and with family, like her singing. Her singing was one of the few things Haidyn shared with others, however exceptional her voice resounded.

And of course Haidyn happens to be an avid Instagram user and always posts on her story for aesthetic purposes, but seldom does she post anything publicly, though she does have a decent follower-base having briefly been a model for a Japanese clothing line belonging to a friend of Hīto who found Haidyn to be an 'It girl' and her muse. Haidyn had wanted to keep a low-profile, but that proved to be pointless in the fashion world.

She enjoys gaming from time to time, too, but she couldn't consider herself good. Her favorite kind of games were of RPG and fantasy genre.

Background

Haidyn lived a quaint lifestyle up until she left her life in the United States, however tedious it was growing up in different households due to her parents' divorce. Her father, Rowan Maverick, was a renown neurosurgeon in Seattle, Washington, while her late mother, Hiren Koromogawa owned a successful Japanese bistro with Hīto, Haidyn's paternal grandmother, before she'd suddenly took ill with stage 4 liver cancer and died just a little before Haidyn's 7th birthday. Rowan had then taken full custody of Haidyn, only allowing Haidyn to visit her grandmother Hīto a weekend once a month, which Haidyn was more than eager for, for then she would be able to escape the austerity of her home with her father as she helped her grandmother at the bistro.

Haidyn never had the best relationship with her father. She often wondered how he garnered any love for her mother before they'd separated and how her mother ever found any warmth in Rowan's eyes. He wasn't abusive with Haidyn, but he was the authoritarian sort of parent. Rowan gave her what she needed, but he was never actually the father she 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑. Their relationship became more and more strained when Rowan discovered Haidyn's power to heal with her laughter when she happened to come across a patient whose post-op recovery had been apparently compromised, and under closer observation, he later had her undergo countless examinations at different neurology wards throughout the state of Washington. He became obsessed with his daughter's abilities, seeing her as this medical anomaly, something miraculous sent from God, before other colleagues deemed him to be delusional, and his own sanity questioned. At home, Rowan would then resort to inflicting self-harm in order to have Haidyn heal him with her ability, going so far as to nearly kill himself in efforts to ascertain the extent of his daughter's power. Laughing herself to tears, a young Haidyn would experience a pain that ran deeper than any physical abrasion. Who would ever know if her laughter was that of unbridled joy or woe?

Having had his medical license suddenly terminated not much later, Rowan was declared unfit to continue to care for Haidyn before he had ultimately and indefinitely been admitted to a psychological ward. Hīto took it upon herself to finally and properly look after her granddaughter. Though she too was strict with Haidyn, Hīto loves her immensely and fiercely. Haidyn, traumatized by the psychological abuse she suffered with Rowan, withheld from her grandmother the 'blessing' that were her abilities, as they had evidently evolved sometime throughout her adolescence. Hīto knew Haidyn too well to realize when she was hiding something, but she never brought it up knowing her granddaughter would eventually confide in her on her own. When Haidyn finally told Hīto of her powers, Hīto took no pity on her; she told Haidyn she was gifted by unseen forces and that she should not be ashamed or fearful. Haidyn knew Hīto meant well, but she couldn't seem to accept that she had been 'blessed' when it only felt as if she was cursed. Haidyn never visited Rowan since.

It took several years after that for Haidyn to better 'control' her healing prowess. For fear of alleviating those that did not seem to wish to have an easier life, she would condition herself to not express much joy or excitement. However, the older Haidyn became and the more she realized her aspirations in life, she decided she would go into a field where she could hopefully put her abilities to use in pediatrics, determined to provide the kind of proper care and better future children could greatly benefit from so that none suffered the way she had.

As she finished her general education in Washington, Haidyn would then plan to study abroad and evidently find an institute with an exceptional bachelor program in Italy, prepared to leave behind her life in the United States and start with something like a clean slate in an entirely different continent. She'd implored Hīto to come away with her out of her own selfishness, disregarding the fact that that meant leaving behind the bistro Hiren had worked tirelessly to establish. Hīto had chastised Haidyn for her willfulness, but then she gently pushed it to the side, letting Haidyn know that she was just like her mother; once they both made a decision about anything, there was no dissuading them anyhow.

So then Haidyn currently resides in Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany, awaiting her term to begin for her medical program, but everything is not at all what it seems in the 𝑩𝒆𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒆𝒔𝒆 as she will later discover should she traipse into the otherworldly territory and meander beyond.

Abilities

𝑨𝒎𝒉𝒓𝒂́𝒏 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒚 (’Fairy Song’)

Haidyn is the sort of Banshee where instead of warning the death of family, she breaks out into Old Irish song when she senses the tragic death of anyone whether she knows them or not. She sings in Old Irish without understanding the language for she has Irish lineage besides Japanese. But when sings, she also reaps the nightmares of those around her, experiencing their worst fears and personal hells firsthand in her mind and appears to go into a trance-like state as her eyes go from red-violet to completely white and she becomes immobile for a certain amount of time. She has not shown to acquire any repercussions. She 'awakens' from this paralyzed stupor crying, though she never weeps out of hysterics. Most of the time when she finds herself crying, she has always been unaware of it.

𝑮𝒂́𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 ('Healing Laugh')

Upon genuinely laughing, Haidyn will heal the one that evokes such emotion from her, whether that may be a simple 'washing' of their soul where the person feels an explicable comfort and warmth reminiscent to that sensation of an embrace. Fake and nervous laughter still have an effect on others, though not to the same extent to that of wholeheartedness, however much she has tried to feign laughs in attempt to not heal, but most of the time she still alleviates and soothes. Like winter sunlight doesn’t compare to the warmth of an embrace of that between lovers or close ones, but it still feels good enough.

With physical wounds, Haidyn's genuine laughter has the same effect. However, Haidyn cannot raise the dead with her healing; Rowan had attempted to have Haidyn do so when he nearly took his own life, and she had struggled to convince him otherwise, barely succeeding. Whereas healing others has no real effect on her, Haidyn cannot heal herself if she were to be hurt. This can spell trouble for her should any harm come to her.
